Upper
What is the upper of a running shoe?
It is the most visible part of the shoe and, at the same time, one of the most important. The upper not only determines the design, colours and overall style of the shoe, but also directly influences the runner's performance and comfort. In running, the upper is designed to offer support, breathability and flexibility. It can be made of synthetic materials, technical fabrics or engineered mesh for optimal ventilation and precise fit. It is also common to find seamless reinforcements (thanks to technologies such as heat-sealed reinforcements) to reduce weight and prevent chafing, as well as internal structures that improve stability without compromising lightness. In addition, the configuration of the lacing system, heel and tongue design influence the type of fit, adapting to different foot types and running styles.
